Take some time before hiring a contractor to insure you are getting the best possible service available. Pool contractors are a faction or an individual that contracts with a client for the installation, renovation or maintenance of a swimming pool. Guaranteed Pool Plastering does all of that and more with friendly, prompt service. Pool contractors, in San Diego or elsewhere, can be the worker or the people who do the dirty job of building a pool, but at Guaranteed Pool Plastering in El Cajon, you will always get the right contractor for the job.

Pool contractors are responsible for the resources and approaches to be used in the execution of the swimming pool project in accordance with the contract agreed between the pool contractor and client. The contract documents generally include the contract concurrence including financial plan, the general and special conditions and the plans and specification of the project that are prepared by a design professional.

Pool contractors are usually responsible for providing all materials, labor, equipment, and services needed for the construction of the swimming pool. There are some pool contractors who delegate part of the work to other persons and companies that specialize in these types of work.

Pool contractors offer several services such as installation, maintenance, and repairs. Their concerns usually revolve around questions what kind of pool the clients have. Is it an above ground or in-ground type of swimming pool? Is it an indoor or outdoor type? Then there is the matter about the make of the pool: Is it made out of fiberglass, gunite, tile, vinyl liner or aggregate finish?

In some states, pool contractors whose services cost $500 or more can perform their job as long as they hold a current, valid contractor’s license. Pool contractors must be licensed as swimming pool specialty contractors. A general building contractor may also contract for swimming pool work if the general building contractor holds the swimming pool specialty categorization. The general building contractor can also hire a licensed swimming pool specialty contractor as a subcontractor.

There are also other organizations that San Diego pool contractors should be affiliated with like the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Guaranteed Pool Plastering is in fact a Better Business Bureau A+ rated company, so you can be assured that you will always receive the best service and complete satisfaction.

After doing the necessary preparations for you pool plans, you should have finally selected your pool contractor. However, this does not mean that all your woes on your project are over. Take note that hiring a contractor is a means for your pool project, not an end. Your selected contractor may not be your final solution in making your ideas into a reality. So, in the middle phase of your transaction, the contract signing is very crucial for you and your pool contractor.

A detailed and specific agreement will help remove any possible conflict or tension between you and your pool contractor. Moreover, the agreement, in the form of the written contract, promotes both parties to work together as equals in accomplishing the desired goals.

Among other things, the contract comprises a description of the proposed pool project and the equipment to be used.

Be certain that everything noteworthy is indicated and described in the contract: the amount of money you are going to spend; the color, size, weight, quality, quantity and brand name of the materials and equipment that the pool contractor is going to use. In addition, don’t forget to include every aspect that you feel is important to get the job done, like the removal and cleanup of debris, and most importantly, the safety of individuals during construction (especially children and pets).

For your benefit, here is a checklist of specifications in a contract:

•	The pool contractor’s name and address
•	The contractor’s license number
•	The estimated date for day one of work
•	An account of the contract price, equipment, materials, and work to be done
•	A timetable of payments in reference to the completed work’s worth
•	An explanation of what comprises the start of work
•	A notice for your pool contractor that failure without lawful excuse to instigate work within 20 days from the start date, is a violation of Contractors License Law

The contract between you and your pool contractor should contain the sum price of the expenses of the service. Make sure the financial terms are understandable and clear.

Pool building starts with the dry and rough empty lot of land in your backyard. After the designs are finalized, the empty area is marked and readied for landscaping. The pool builders send out the excavators to unearth the ground. This phase of pool building is part of the first stage where the ground becomes a canvas for your soon-to-be in ground swimming pool. For this part of the pool building process, the site is pretty much a mess of earth piling in your backyard.

The pool builders will then place wall panels that will act us visual markers to setup the next part of pool building. The wall panels are usually steel, solid and observable, as much as possible. In this part of the pool building phase, a transit is placed in the middle of the shallow part of the hole to make sure the walls are at the same stature. After a few adjustments and realigning, the pool kit is assembled.

As for the pool kit, the material will depend on what you have ordered. Let us assume you ordered a polymer pool kit. The pool building process is the same as the process of installing steel markers. The builders then set the pool wall panels on blocks. With the aid of the transit in the previous phase, the blocks are placed in accordance to the same height. By this time, options such as the plumbing pipes are added to the pool.

In the next pool building phase, the braces must be attached to each pool panel, and by this time, the cement truck pours cement on each brace and has it plumbed. What’s the rationale of the cement? Well, it keeps the wall in place and adds strength for when water is added to the pool water. Later on, a solid concrete collar is placed around the base of the panels to guarantee firmness. With the options like skimmers, steps, and jets installed, the next focal point of the pool building process is at the pool floor.

For the pool floor, sand is placed to make a nice smooth pool base; however, some clients prefer cement for more solidity. Then comes the part where the floor is floated and troweled to make it smoother. Here, the “rough draft of the canvas” is pruned out and you’ll see your pool shape coming to life.

Once the pool floor is all set, the pool liner is sent in. For those of you asking what a pool liner is, it’s the blue surface that brings out the color of your pool. It is rolled up at the end of the pool. In pool building, liner installation usually requires caution because the liner is thin enough to be ripped apart; and builders are also hoping that the liner fits the pool.

After the liners are adjusted for any visible wrinkles, the pool is filled with water and you are nearing the final stages of pool building. The builders then fill the back of the pool walls with dirt and the dive board stands, ladder and rail cups are ready for installation. After a few weeks of settling the cement and dirt, the final touches are installed to add to your pool décor.

With all of the phases of pool building completed, you can now plunge your way to fun in your brand new in ground swimming pool.

Who is worse than a con artist? People will have different answers for this question. But there is no one worse than the con man except the man who is being conned. In countless situations, you can see people end up being victims of fraud. It is sad but nowadays, these situations are very typical. It’s the clients’ prerogative whether they do something or not. The seller and buyer will always meet at the equilibrium in every transaction, even your everyday pool builder. It is the duty of every client or buyer to know what he or she is getting into.

Remember, aside from treachery and fraudulence, ignorance is also a sin. Know more about your pool builder. Take note that the pool builder will always be a step ahead because he is finding ways to sell his services and products. You, as a client, can also be a step ahead by following these guidelines to save yourself from ignorance: identify, prune, take notes, compare, and review.

The cliché, “No man is an island” is the stepping stone to any buyer in admitting, “I need someone to do these things.” In terms of building a swimming pool, not everyone has the time to build a swimming pool and therefore, we rely on the pool builder. We identify every pool builder in the district or city; hence we list down the name of each company that offers pool building services. Furthermore, broaden your horizon, check the yellow pages and browse the Internet.

When you have already finished your list of pool building companies, it is time to select the pool builder who is most qualified.

Anyone can claim he is an experienced pool builder — whether it’s the truth or not, the point is if he is an excellent pool builder, he must have proof. He must be certified. He should have undergone training and tests from the National Spa and Pool Institute. In other words, you as a buyer should prune out the pretenders from the builders. If all the companies in your list are certified, check the references. Find past clients of these companies and ask about the quality of their services.

Don’t hesitate to be a note geek. If you come across a sales representative of that company, take down notes of any promises or claims. It’s important to document the pool builder’s incentives because you have to check if they really “walk their talk.” Note taking means you have to be critical and being critical means that you don’t agree to any options right away. Again, there is nothing wrong with checking up on the competition.

The last step is the most important one, and that is review. Don’t make any final signatures until you are 100% positive confident about your pool builder.

Many trustworthy swimming pool contractors offer a just and fair price for their services. The difficulty is finding these people in a pool of pretenders. Who are these pretenders? Only you can tell the difference because in the final phases of browsing companies, only you can find the right swimming pool contractors who can truly meet your expectations.

Here is a checklist for your assistance. With this checklist you can classify your directory of swimming pool contractors. Before enumerating the real contractors from the pretenders, keep in mind that it takes two to create a suitable seller-buyer relationship. Hence, make sure the swimming pool contractors (the contractor with a few subcontractors) you hire can “jive” with your ideas:

•	Now, the first thing on your checklist involves asking about the swimming pool contractors’ experience in building pools. Try asking how many pools he has built and how long he has been working in the pool industry. Some swimming pool contractors have been working for years but have only the slightest idea about the job. Most importantly, when you ask a question, make sure it is specific. This way, you can demand for specific answers.

•	Try to find out if the company offers services other than installation. Contractors who cater to other services may enter into the project with other things in mind. Trustworthy swimming pool contractors are the ones who are present from start to finish and the ones who are concerned with every aspect integral to their work.

•	Ask yourself: how reachable are the builders? Make sure you can contact these builders easily so that you can monitor the performance and the progress of your pool project. In addition, always have open ears for referrals because they can assist you in assessing the swimming pool contractors early on.

•	Underline the swimming pool contractors who are affiliated with the APSP. What is the APSP? The Association of Pool & Spa Professionals is the chief organization for the swimming pool industry. APSP certified pool builders are highly knowledgeable about complete pool construction education. They are examined, qualified, and they uphold their position with continuing education.

•	Aside from referrals, you can look at their records with the local BBB. If the builder has a case that is pending, then you can include this in your assessment. Who knows what they did during their previous transactions? However, there are cases where clients maltreat their contractors. If there are bad companies, then there is also such a thing as bad clients. The report can give way to more guidelines on how to transact with swimming pool contractors.

As a concluding statement, this checklist can be modified for your convenience. There are several factors that can affect your assessment; but in the end, the final say comes from you, the client.
